Write an Analytical Ethics Essay in 600 words or more.

The essay discusses ethical issues based on the system you are working on that a developer formally writes to share and direct his team with.

Themes

Suggested overarching themes: System Integrity, Security, Privacy, Sustainability, Responsibility and Transparency.

Project Category

Software, Gaming, Mobile and Wireless Computing, Database, Vision and Graphics, Operating System and Embedded Systems, Database, Human Language Technology and Artificial Intelligence.

Choose one of two approaches:

Approach 1 S-P-S-R (System based): System, Problem, Solution, Response

Write a brief on your FYP from two standpoints:

a. Application for end users b.Back-end

Identify system parts, relate to ethical issues and present as problem and solutions.

Approach 2 One contemporary ethics issue from Outside Sources (analyse for key findings and apply to your project - on 1 or 2 issues)

Relate your FYP to an ethical issue based on an "outside source" - journal article, courses or something you can reference.
Analyse and find 2 key findings.
Apply the 2 key findings as problem and solutions to you own work.

Outline and plan before your write:

Project Brief: a. application for end-users b. back-end (provide both a and b from the view of a system developer)
System Parts relevant to your analysis for vulnerability and mitigation
Apply ethical issues to your chosen system part
Present ethical issues, identify problems and provide solutions – solution engagement is important.

Plan

Consider Professional Codes of Conduct:

Refer to HKIE, WFEO, GDPR, UNESCO AI, Open Source or ACM etc (or a professional code of your choice).
You can write these references as footnote – they do not have to be included in the body of your essay.

Introduction:

Have you chosen one of the two approaches (above). Have you provided background information on what you are going to write on.

Key Findings:

Have provided a brief on your system or project?
What are your identified system parts?
Are your two problems clearly stated?
Are your solutions concise and engaging?
What are vulnerabilities to mitigate?
What are your ethical issues? Have you analysed the ethical issue(s)
What codes or rules were breached?

Have you picked a contemporary issue from an outside source?
Have your analysed for key findings (2) and applied these findings to your system/project?
